The Gina curl truly has changed my wash day routine and the ease of styling my hair. Before doing the Gina curl it use to take me upwards of 6 hours to wash, detangle and deep condition my hair. It was too much of a hassle even though I loved the look/texture of my natural hair. So I found the Gina curl which is a bit more meticulous and makes an effort to avoid over-damaging the hair compared to the jherri curl. The process itself felt luxurious because of the salon I was in. It took about 7 hours for my treatment and the cost was $950👀! The cost takes away half a star. Another half a star is taken away because of the maintenance needed after about 3 months. The first three months is amazing! its so easy to wash my hair, maybe takes 1 hour tops even with deep conditioning as my hair is just so much more manageable. however, once the hair starts growing in and you can see the line of demarcation between the permed hair & the natural hair, it becomes more maintenance to detangle and wash which honestly makes me want to just put in some protective styles. so while the treatment makes it 10x easier to wash and style my hair, its short lived and once the 6 month mark is here youre more than ready to run back to the salon. so again while the results are great, a treatment like this will dig into your pockets! because of the perm my hair has been able to grow rapidly but that also means i need a touch up more often. ive consistently stretched out sessions atleat 8 months but the whole point of doing this treatment was to have my hair out which it’s still not long enough in my opinion where i feel good having it out without being in a bun. so while i do love the results, the downside is how many times you have to pay nearly $1000! Because your hair will grow like weeds with this! i also recommend not ripping your hair out when detangling! my hair got thin which was my own fault but the second time i treated i made sure to detangle gently and my hair has gotten thicker!
