Skincare can often feel overwhelming with so many products and brands to choose from. I often have felt overwhelmed by the multitude of claims and overcomplicated products on the market. Rhode Skincare has been a deviation from the confusion and has brought back a simplified skincare routine I tend to fall back to. In this review, I’ll take an in-depth look at Rhode Skincare and I’ll provide the pros and cons of this product for my skin type.

Introduction To Rhode Skincare

Rhode Skincare is a brand focused on delivering high-quality skincare solutions using scientifically-backed ingredients. Known for its minimalistic approach, Rhode aims to simplify the skincare routine without compromising on efficacy.

Rhode seems to have a commitment to using fewer, cleaner ingredients, ensuring that each product is not only effective but also gentle on the skin.

I like the brand’s focus which provides transparency about what’s in their products and why. I believe this approach helps build trust with their customers, as people today are becoming more conscientious about what they apply on their skin.

Key Ingredients And Benefits

A standout feature of Rhode Skincare is its use of powerhouse ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and peptides. These components are known to hydrate, brighten, and firm the skin, catering to a variety of skincare needs.

Hyaluronic acid, a key ingredient in many Rhode products, hydrates . It can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, making it incredibly effective in keeping skin plump and moisturized. This makes it an ideal ingredient for anyone struggling with dry skin. I have oily skin and prefer it to balance my oils.

Niacinamide, another crucial ingredient, works wonders for skin brightening and evening out skin tone. It also has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce redness and blotchiness, making it a versatile addition to any skincare regimen.

Lastly, peptides are a hot topic in the skincare world right now. They support skin’s natural structure and function. By stimulating collagen production, they help maintain the skin’s firmness and elasticity. This is particularly beneficial for those concerned with the signs of aging.

Product Range Overview

Rhode Skincare offers a well-rounded range of products, including cleansers, serums, moisturizers, etc. Each product is designed to work synergistically to provide a comprehensive skincare routine. Personally I decided to use their barrier restore cream as a finishing moisturizer and the lip treatment and peptide tint to nourish my lips. Here’s a breakdown of their ingredients:

Barrier Restore Cream:

  1. Niacinamide: A form of Vitamin B3 that helps repair and strengthen the skin barrier. It can improve skin tone, and reduce redness. It is beneficial for oily skin in regulating oil production. Also helps reduce large pores.
  2. Squalane: A moisturizing ingredient that mimics the skin’s natural oils, providing lightweight hydration without clogging pores.
  3. Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii Butter): A rich emollient that hydrates and softens the skin. It may not be suitable for fungal acne-prone individuals.
  4. Peptides: Including Acetyl Tetrapeptide-2, these peptides stimulate collagen production, which supports skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of wrinkles.
  5. Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate): A humectant that draws moisture into the skin, keeping it plump and hydrated.

Peptide Lip Treatment:

  1. Shea Butter: Offers similar hydration and protection benefits as in the Barrier Restore Cream.
  2. Vitamin E (Tocopherol): An antioxidant that strengthens the skin barrier and protects against free radicals.
  3. Peptides: Help in collagen production, which can keep lips firm and youthful.
  4. Lactic Acid: Gently exfoliates dead skin cells and smooths the lip surface.

The Peptide Lip Tint (Espresso):

  1. Diisostearyl Malate: An emollient that forms a moisture barrier on the lips, keeping them hydrated.
  2. Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil (Babassu Oil): Hydrating and antioxidant-rich oil that may offer anti-inflammatory benefits.
  3. Synthetic Wax: Used to stabilize the formula and improve texture, but may not be suitable for those with fungal acne.

My Experience

Personally, I feel Rhode has done an amazing job of mixing high quality ingredients with moderate pricing while generally creating skincare for basic requirements. I work in a medspa and tend to use products with high quality, innovative ingredients that provide amazing results. However, for cleansers and moisturizers I’m okay with keeping to the basics and choosing products without the gimmicks and laundry list of ingredients. The barrier moisturizer perfectly embodies this for me. I have oily skin but want to maintain and control my oil levels by adequately nourishing my skin. It absorbs naturally into my skin and does not feel heavy in the slightest. My only qualm is I tend to go through the bottle quickly moisturizing both my neck and face. I don’t tend to be acne-prone so not sure if this product is as universal as it seems but for me it’s close to a cetaphil or even aquaphor but better. I have used it during my post-procedural phases and have not felt even a bit of irritation from it. Of course everyone’s different so use with your own discretion.

I loved loved loved the peptide lip treatment! Enjoyed the gloss it provided to my lips and the softness and nourishment it gave. It’s also rated a 2 on the EWG which rates products on a scale of safety from 1-10 (1 being very safe and 10 being high likelihood of product being unsafe). In terms of the expresso lip tint, though, I wanted to love it because I really liked the color but it was more sticky than moisturizing and would cast the dreaded white film where my wet and dry borders of my lips met.

Price And Value For Money

The brand offers good value for money considering the results and ingredient quality. Definitely cheaper than medspa products but may be on par with drugstore prices.

Additionally, Rhode frequently offers bundles and discounts, making it easier for customers to try out multiple products without breaking the bank. These deals can provide great value, allowing you to experience the full range of benefits that the brand has to offer.

Finally, Rhode’s Sustainability And Ethical Practices

Rhode Skincare is committed to sustainability, utilizing eco-friendly packaging and ethically sourced ingredients. The brand fosters a strong stance against animal testing, ensuring all their products are cruelty-free.

From production to packaging, Rhode aims to minimize its environmental impact. By choosing recyclable materials and supporting ethical sourcing practices, they contribute to a more sustainable beauty industry.

This not only enhances their brand values but also encourages consumers to make more environmentally conscious choices.
